Abstract Advances in 3D tissue engineering beyond theorthopedic age barrier for enhanced long term facial cosmetic benefits

Orthopedic correction has previously been perceived to be an impossibility once suture closure has completed. Through the use of low continuous force the discovery of the threshold for osteogenesis has been established allowing for alteration in the osseous structure of the midface and mandible in three dimensions of space. New orthopedic designs will be presented allowing adults and nongrowing patients an alternative to dental extractions and orthognathic surgical procedures. The idea of non-extraction orthopedic camoufl age techniques for correction of Class I, Class II and Class III malocclusions will be demonstrated with the use of new transverse dimension development coupled with Class II and Class III Herbst mechanisms. The application of these technologies will display the ability to create improved facial symmetry and proportionality for enhanced long-term facial cosmetic benefi ts at any age.

INTRAORAL DESIGNS FOR HEADGEAR FREE CLASS II AND CLASS III CORRECCTION FOR THE NONCOMPLIANT PATIENT

Class III and Class II skeletal and dental corrections can often be more challenging and even nonattainable in the presence of a noncompliant patient. Return of control to the clinician will be demonstrated in a simple and efficient manner that can deliver both orthopedic and orthodontic correction beyond the orthopedic age barrier. The use of extraoral headgear frameworks has been a standard for class II and especially Class III correction. The ability to achieve remarkable results without requiring patient wear or compliance in the wear of Facemasks and headgear will be demonstrated with our latest engineering technology. Breakthroughs In the use of low continuous force have lead us to a new understanding of a “whole bone” concept moving us beyond the periodontal ligament in our ability to deliver results for even the most difficult cases with the most challenging patients.
